Satirical drawing from PRL – Jerzy Flisak – A horse for an agricultural machine

We present to you an exceptionally interesting original satirical drawing from the PRL period, which masterfully combines classic Polish political humor with the difficult economic reality of that era. The style and subject matter of the work unequivocally point to the work of the famous Polish satirical cartoonist – Jerzy Flisak, whose distinctive line and sharp wit became a symbol of PRL satire. The main theme of the drawing is a twisted commentary on the problems of agricultural mechanization and forced collectivization. The artist ironically contrasts the technical backwardness of the countryside with propaganda slogans about progress and modernization. In the speech bubble, there is a notable inscription: „A horse for an agricultural machine!”, which is a direct reference to the absurdities of the centrally planned economy, where modern equipment was scarce and outdated methods were the norm. The drawing is an excellent example of socially engaged art, which has not lost its relevance over the years. It is not only a memento of a bygone era but also a valuable historical document illustrating the mentality and realities of life in Poland in the 1950s and 1960s. The work is made on paper with a noble shade, typical of contemporary press publications, which further emphasizes its authenticity. Why should you buy this drawing?
