Original Order of the Sacred Treasure (Zuihō-shō) – Japanese imperial decoration from the 19th century
We present to you a unique example of the Japanese Order of the Sacred Treasure (Zuihō-shō), likely of the 5th or 4th class, coming in its original purple case. The order was established in 1888 by Emperor Meiji and is one of the most important Japanese civil and military decorations. It was awarded for long, meritorious service to both military personnel and civilians.
The medal is made of silver and adorned with cloisonné enamel in traditional Japanese red. The obverse features a characteristic pattern – a garland of cherry blossoms (sakura) and an image of the sacred treasures (mirror, jewel, and sword), symbolizing imperial majesty. The reverse bears the inscription "Zuihō-shō" (勲功章) in imperial calligraphy.
The condition is very good – the enamel is virtually untouched, the silver shows a patina of age, and the original case exhibits signs of use, adding authenticity. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an authentic Japanese decoration from the Meiji period – a desirable item for collectors of militaria, orders, and Asian memorabilia.
