We present an extremely rare and unique collector's item – an award received by the legendary Polish satirical weekly "Szpilki" in 1981. The object bears the Italian inscription "Premio Satira Politica" (Award for Political Satire), which gives it an international, artistic character and constitutes a fascinating witness of the late PRL era, when satire was an important weapon in the fight for freedom of speech.
The central motif of the graphic is a stylized insect figure – most likely a bee – divided along its axis into two contrasting halves. One side is light with distinct red stripes, the other dark, perhaps symbolizing the division between "us" and "them," characteristic of the opposition satire of the time.
