Presented to you is an extremely rare and refined object of artistic craftsmanship from northern India – a 19th-century box from Kashmir. This unique work combines masterful precision with the richness of noble materials, creating an item of exceptional collectible and museum value.
The box is made of precious, hard wood, which served as the canvas for intricate decorations. The surface is richly carved and then inlaid with two contrasting materials: snow-white bone and iridescent mother-of-pearl.
