Stars on Shoulder Boards, GDR, 20th century

Stars on shoulder boards, commonly used in the GDR in the structures of the National People's Army (NVA). A form of military insignia, most often found as single, small stars (12 mm, aluminum) designed for field shoulder boards (Schulterklappen) or dress uniforms (Schulterstücke). Four-pointed stars, most frequently used by non-commissioned officers (e.g. Gefreiter, Feldwebel).
