At her side is a basket with fruits, apples, and bunches of grapes, a symbol of youth and vitality. Her facial expression is indifferent, even rejecting, thereby emphasizing a lack of emotion. Her dress with lace seems to ripple, preceding her earlier fall. The young man seems to be her opposite. He leans over the woman, trying to embrace her, almost to seize her by force. He appears to exude a sudden youthful and uncontrolled feeling that is not reciprocated.
