The bust was made in 1957 for an exhibition. It was supposed to depict a "worker", but the authorities decided that it did not look enough like a "worker", so another version was created. The second one can be seen in the photo in the catalog. Since the first version did not make it to the exhibition, I think it was given to the model, Barbara. I bought the bust from an antiquarian in Lviv, who also had a copy of the catalog and photos.
The sculptor Emmanuil Mysko (Emanuel Miśko) is well-known in Ukraine and has made many pieces, including the statue of Ivan Franko which stands outside the university in Lviv.
